Teaching Philosophy

How I Help Students Grow

My approach to teaching centers on creating engaging, supportive, and accessible learning experiences for all students. I value hands on learning, positive relationships, and an environment where every child feels confident and capable.

Educational Philosophy

I believe that every child learns best when they feel seen, valued, and connected to their learning community. My goal as an educator is to build a classroom where students feel safe to explore, create, take risks, and discover their unique strengths. Learning should spark curiosity and excitement, and students should feel empowered to take ownership of their growth. I want every learner who walks into my classroom to feel that they belong, that their ideas matter, and that they have the space to try new things without fear.

I teach through hands on and project based learning because students retain information far more deeply when they can apply it in meaningful ways. Real learning happens when students build, test, design, question, and engage with content through experience. Whether they are coding robots, building prototypes, exploring science concepts, or investigating real world problems, students learn to think critically and understand the why behind the work. These experiences help them develop confidence, creativity, and perseverance.

My philosophy is shaped by eight years of teaching in a bilingual school that serves a large population of English learning students. I believe that diverse classrooms enrich everyone, and I design learning experiences that support students’ linguistic, cultural, and academic needs. Visual supports, scaffolded tasks, and multimodal learning are essential pieces of my instruction. My goal is to create access points that allow all students to engage fully, no matter their language background or learning style. I also work closely with MAPS students and students with learning differences, adapting curriculum and materials so every student can participate successfully.

Technology plays a meaningful role in my teaching. I use digital tools to enhance student voice, provide choice, track progress, and design interactive learning environments. I also use technology to support my colleagues by modeling instructional strategies and helping create engaging digital experiences for their classrooms. Innovation is a core part of who I am, and I enjoy finding new ways to help students connect with content in ways that feel exciting and relevant.

Most importantly, I believe that education is about connection. When students know they are cared for, supported, and believed in, they rise. My mission is to teach the whole child and to create a classroom where students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I want them to see themselves as capable thinkers and problem solvers who can make a meaningful impact on the world.
